GOLF ICON TIGER WOODS TURNS ARTIST

Back

March 2008: Golf icon Tiger Woods' name is synonymous with concentration, razor-sharp attention to detail and excellence. It's how he got where he is today -- to the pinnacle of professional golf. But what happens when you converge that focus and attention to detail...with paint? Buick did just that, and invited Tiger to create three pieces of expressionistic original "Tiger Art" using his golf clubs and paint-filled golf balls. Buick Marketing Director Maria Rohrer unveiled the finished work at the annual Buick media luncheon in New York City on the eve of the International Auto Show in New York. Tiger teed off just a few feet in front of white canvasses and his golf balls exploded to create a kaleidoscopic master-stroke (pun intended) of modern art. The finished canvases, reminiscent of Jackson Pollock's work, were autographed by Tiger and will be available to bid at auction during Buick's annual charity event this June. "Tiger Art" is a radically different medium for Buick and Tiger Woods as they continue their philanthropic initiatives, helping children and adults in communities nationwide. To date, Buick has raised more than 40 million dollars for Buick Open charities since 1982. Perhaps "Tiger Art" is an avant-garde phenomena waiting to happen? Tiger, after all, is known for making his own rules. And art...well, the genius of great art is that you never know what may happen! Bader TV was the exclusive news team on site with Tiger as he put down his club and picked up his brush...
